Biography

Tim Bolling is a professional drummer and percussionist versatile in rock, blues, funk, R&B, reggae, and jazz; “world” styles such as Middle Eastern, African, Latin, and Brazilian; experimentation with household and industrial objects as instruments; and back-up vocals and throat singing. He has performed live on radio, and on local and international TV, satellite, and web broadcasts.

He was a co-founder of three of the SF bay Area's improvisational / experimental rock and acid jazz bands: Subject To Change (which first brought improvisation to The SF Bay Areas big rock clubs), the Maggie Duet Orchestra, and the critically acclaimed 3 Bean Salad.

He has performed with members of the Sly and the Family Stone, Airto, Kanye West, and Ancient Future bands; and with celebrated world music performers Habib Khan, Suhaila Salimpour, Glen Velez, Mary Ellen Donald, Mimi Spencer, Reda Darwish, Susu Pampinin, Solace, and Tim Rayborn, whose CD ‘Veils of Light” features one of Tim’s compositions. Recording credits also include the number one world music CD on college radio in 2002, ‘Change The World With A Sound” by RebbeSoul, with whom Tim tours the country; and ‘Desert Dreams Of Light” by the Phoenix Spring Ensemble, an interesting mix of Chinese and Middle Eastern music with a tasty blend of jazz, a CD praised by Yo Yo Ma.
